As an artist and someone passionate about working with people, I love creating hair art. Hair coloring and cutting is like painting and sculpting except that this form of art is one that my clients wear and one that has power to make them feel content and confident. Aside from pleasure of seeing play of color and shapes in someone’s hair, I love delivering a look that compliments my client’s face shape and skin tone. It’s not about changing someone’s appearance, it’s about highlighting their best features.
Although my approach may seem artsy and bohemian, I am firmly convicted in creating looks that are practical and easy to maintain. If my client loves spending an hour or more just on their hair every day, that’s OK with me, but I will not promote looks that force clients to do that. Practical is beautiful. New Yorkers have more important things to do than to worry about their hair. Teaching my client how to recreate a salon look at home is an important part of my service.
Frequently my work consists of fixing color messes caused either by another stylist or clients themselves. Keeping health of the hair in mind is just as important as being creative, and that requires a level of honesty from me that clients cannot easily find elsewhere. If a client requests a service that damages hair without doing the necessary work at home to moisturize and in other ways nourish their hair, I refuse to do the service. Healthy hair is the most beautiful hair of all. Answers I give to my clients’ questions may not always be the ones my clients want to hear, but they are always the ones they need to.
The training I received from Wella and my experience is what shapes my approach to work and my hair philosophy.
On this website I aim to give you an opportunity to try my service, ask questions, and benefit from my advice.
I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Yours,
Ivana
